I have been relying on Norton products for PCs since back when Peter Norton himself was shown on the front of each box. I find the products easy to use, easy to understand, and they have kept me safe from viruses since my first dial up connection circa 1995.

When I bought my first MacBook Pro about a month ago to experiment with Xcode and Objective-C (iPad and/or iPhone development will hopefully follow,) I wondered if I needed to install an antivirus package. But I find myself online with this machine much more than I expected, and I decided to purchase Norton Internet Security so that I wouldn't have to worry.

The installation was a breeze and within 30 minutes I had the product installed and fully updated. The UI is different than my PC based Norton products, but everything is easy to find and the software has been running without any issues. Better yet, my machine is running just as fast as it was before the installation.

5.0 out of 5 stars A trusted name, with trusted protection, January 22, 2012

I purchased two license keys of Norton Internet Security 5 for Mac as I have two Mac's and haven't had any problems with using the product, nor did I experience any difficulty with installation. Unlike Intego Virus Barrier which I had used, or rather, attempted to use previously, Norton doesn't slow down my Mac nor cause any irregularities with its operation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Increasingly poor as a product for the Mac, April 28, 2012

This review is from: Norton Internet Security for Mac (CD-ROM)
I agree particularly with the detailed comments under the 1-star ratings, but give it 2 stars because it does do some things right. I've been a Mac user since 1986 and a Symantec/Norton user since the mid-1990s. However, each year the Norton products for the Mac have progressively become less and less suitable for the Mac. I've typically updated directly through Norton based on the auto-reminder that pops up about a month before the expiration date. But each year the update process has become less functional and the product itself more "black box" with less feedback that it is actually working. This year (2012) was pretty much the las straw for me. After responding to the reminder, the update failed because the product being update was no longer supported. It took chat contact with Norton to find that they had actually discontinued the product and that I would thus have to pay full price to update to Norton Security 2012 for the Mac on each of my Macs. At the very least, the update... Read more
